Groundwater under Bainbridge Island: The Big Picture

A big picture understanding of Bainbridge Island’s groundwater, what sustainability means and what environmental tradeoffs are involved, and why a Groundwater Monitoring and Management Plan is a good idea for Bainbridge Island.

Bio:
Charlie has a Bachelors from UC Davis, a Masters from Univ of Florida, and a Doctorate from UCLA. All degrees are in Environmental Engineering/Sciences with emphasis on hydrology/water quality. He worked for over 30 years in this field – 18 years for the National Water-Quality Assessment Program with the US Geological Survey and over 12 years with the State of California. He specialized in the transport and fate of nutrients and pesticides in surface waters of the San Joaquin Valley. He also headed up studies on the interaction of groundwater and surface water in various watersheds in California. Locally, he was on the Environmental Technical Advisory Committee for over 8 years, with 5 years as Chair. He recently came out of retirement to be the part-time hydrologist for the Suquamish Tribe.
