The health of Puget Sound and the Salish Sea is every bit as complicated as human health. How you answer the question “Are you healthy?” depends on who is asking, the context of the question, and your response typically varies over time depending on what is happening in your life. You might give a concerned family member one response today and have a vastly different response for a physician two years from now. Let’s explore the health of Puget Sound and the Salish Sea together and what that means from the perspective of communities, water quality, and species like salmon and orcas. While bad news gets media attention and shares, when you stop and look – really look – it turns out that there are successes.
