OMS events are one hour long. You should plan for a ~30-minute presentation and anticipate questions and discussions with the audience during and after. OMS speakers usually use slides, but you are welcome to present without them. If you choose slides, keep it simple.
Here is a general slide guide:
- Use a simple background
- Ensure text is easily readable from a distance
- Keep slides clean and uncluttered with minimal text
- Try to limit each slide to one point or idea
- Emphasize visuals like images, diagrams, and infographics over text (embedded videos are great visual tools but may not work due to the slow network)
- You must own the rights to all images used on your slides. If you use an image under a Creative Commons license, cite the source at the bottom of the slide
